Why does your roof leak every winter?
Turns out... It probably isn't a leak!
The moisture from your own home can reach its way into the cold, dry attic thanks to inadequate insulation.
When it reaches this part of your home, that is just as cold as it is outside, it will freeze! When temperatures rise, that moisture will inevitably thaw and seep it's way back to your home the way it came.
Look for brown spots around your bathroom fans and ceiling light fixtures! There's your sign.
We have a few tips for you to avoid these brown spots!
1. If you're going to use a humidifier, use it sparingly and pair it with a fan!
2. When you're done with your shower, leave the fan running to lift that moisture up and out of your home.
3. Call an insulation specialist to see if your insulation has become compacted over time or if it is no longer up to code.
